Jim has been a member of the finance faculty at Arkansas State University since 1989.  He has taught a variety of finance courses including Business Finance, Capital Management, Financial Institutions & Markets, Managerial Finance, and International Financial Markets.  Jim is a member of the Arkansas State University Foundation Joint Committee on University Investments and the Arkansas State University System Retirement Plan Committee.

Jim’s primary teaching and research areas are treasury management and financial risk management.  His work in the areas of liquidity management, financial risk management, and derivative securities has been published in national and international journals and he has served as a subject matter expert for numerous treasury and finance books.  Jim is co-editor of Essentials of Treasury Management, 5th edition.


In addition to his duties at Arkansas State, Jim has approximately 25 years of experience in the design and delivery of educational programs for various organizations.  His clients have included multinational corporations, global financial institutions, community banks, municipal governments, and universities. These projects have focused primarily on financial planning and analysis, cash, liquidity and risk management
